Description.
Winchester is a historic cathedral city located within a predominantly affluent area of Hampshire. The city is located 62 miles (100 km) south west of London, 19 miles (31 km) south west of Basingstoke and 14 miles (23 km) north east of Southampton. Other major nearby towns include Portsmouth, 27 miles (43 km) to the south east and Andover, 15 miles (24 km) to the north west. The city is located close to the M3 which provides access to London and Southampton. The city also benefits from the A31, which links to Guildford to the east, and the A30, which links to Salisbury to the west. There is a frequent train service to London Waterloo with fastest journey time of just under one hour.
